The Ten Morals; growing up

When I was growing up we were taught moral values
by our family, the school system and the media. In the
ensuing years I've witness this nations loss of many of
its moral values.

The following poem was printed in our
local newspaper on September 10, 200l.
On September 11, 2001 tragedy struck
our nation. At the time I authored this, I felt
then as I feel now, there was a lack of morals
in our society, due to the conflict between
"church and state". In my opinion, this has been a
lucrative cash cow for both sides. The following
was based on the "Ten Commandments" and
I worded it so it wouldn't offend anyone. It's not
intended to replace the Ten Commandment; but,
to supplement it!

The Ten Morals:
By L. Donald Oliver

It is morally right to have,
Faith for what you believe;
It is morally wrong to worship,
Symbols that others conceive;

It is morally wrong to assail others,
Even the words we speak;
It is morally right for all to,
Rest one day of each week;

It is morally right to honor parents,
Even should there be strife;
It is morally wrong and illegal,
To take another's life;

It s morally wrong and illegal to take,
That which doesn't belong to you;
It is morally right to be honest,
To the one you're committed to:

It is morally wrong to utter untruths,
It always leads to distress;
It is morally wrong to be jealous,
Of what others may possess;

I've aways lived by the "Golden Moral",
Of everything that I perceive;
"To always do for others,
What I wish them to do for me"
